I just talk about scales and now, having joined recently as a member of the online classical guitar community CGC, I find out today that they are holding a challenge this month based on a course on scales and arpeggios. To join the challenge, you just have to sign up and then pick three learning units and post up a weekly video showing yourself working on the lesson topics and goals. You have to pick a focus - either scales or arpeggios.
Guess which one I went with?
Scales of course. On my end, I'm going to start with the C major scale (2 octave) starting on the 3rd position, and work on speed and a consistent fretting as I move and shift my hand from extension to contraction.
Week 2 update
I worked on doing the A harmonic minor scale with a stretch on the high E string (1st finger down on F, then pivoting on this finger, stretch to reach G# on the 4th fret and A on the 5th).
Week 3 update
I worked on the D major scale from the 1st position, and using the index finger as a guide, do a shift on the B string (1st finger down for C#, then 2nd for D, and 4th for E, then shifting 1st finger to the 7th fret for F#, 2nd for G, and 4th for A and so on until I reach the 2nd octave D). The focus here is not to hear an accent when the shift happens.
